At NeedABoatCover.com we have noticed over the years that the majority of canvas we replace EARLY have one thing in common, they are NOT MADE WITH SUNBRELLA CANVAS. There are many canvas brands on the market that try to imitate Sunbrella Canvas. Sunbrella canvas is the only tried and proven canvas that is by far a more superior product when it comes to protection and durability. Sunbrella also comes with a 10 year warranty from the manufacturer which is the longest and best warranty in the industry. When it comes to protecting your precious vessel there is no substitute for the best canvas manufactured on the market. Sunbrella has unparalleled quality and extreme durability under harsh marine conditions. The inferior canvas products that most shops use tend to fade drastically in the sun and rip at the seams after only a short period of use. Unfortanately these inferior products also bleed color from the fabric onto your gelcoat and upholstery causing thousands in repairs.
Sunbrella Canvas is made from 100 percent solution-dyed acrylic yarns. Solution-dying is the process of adding color to acrylic fibers during manufacturing while they are in a liquid state. This characteristic of Sunbrella Canvas is the key to locking in color, easy cleaning and long life for years of enjoyment on your boat.
Another aspect that makes Sunbrella Canvas so great is the fact that it is woven in a manner that makes it most breathable canvas on the market. This allows your canvas to dry quickly with only air exposure after a long wet boat excursion. Also all Sunbrella Marine Canvas are treated with a flourocarbon finish, which enhances water repellency and keeps your boat dry on those long rainy nights or rough sea overspray.
Sunbrella Fabrics will also not support MILDEW growth, which keeps your cover looking clean and stunning for many years to come. All Sunbrella Marine Canvas carries a 10 year warranty of the fabric from the manufacturer. This warranty is the longest in the market today and many customers find that their canvas last many many more years depending on use.
Care and Cleaning
No set timetable exists for when your canvas should be cleaned, the marine environment you expose your vessel to has a great deal to do with determing the frequency of cleaning. Cleaning is required less in a dry environment than a moist one. One of the best ways to keep Sunbrella Fabrics looking good and to delay the need for deep and vigorous cleanings is to hose the canvas off on a monthly basis with clear water. This practice will help prevent dirt from becoming deeply imbedded in the fabric and eliminate the need for more vigorous cleanings. In most environments the need for thourough vigourous cleaning will be around every two to three years.
When its time for cleaning, Sunbrella Canvas can be cleaned while still on the boat or frame or size permitting removed for cleaning. When cleaning Sunbrella Canvas ALWAYS use a natural soap (like dishwashing liquid) and NEVER DETERGENT. Water should be COLD to lukewarm. NEVER more than 100 degrees.
